On Sunday, March 19, 2017 Fotomission, Tropicolor and the Miami Design Preservation League hosted the 13th South Beach Photomarathon, an exciting event that is open to all those who enjoy photography.
Participants were assigned six topics to photograph on South Beach over a period of five hours. The topics were kept secret until the event day and were purposefully vague to give the contestants plenty of room for self-expression.
The contestants received an ID badge at sign-in, and during the event the secret topics were divulged every 2 hours at various stations on South Beach.
The best photos from each topic were selected by judges Silvia Lizama and Tracey Heller, professors from Barry University. From these six images, the first, second and third place winners, as well as three honorable mentions were awarded prizes that included, cash, Tropicolor Plexi mounted exhibition prints, gift baskets from the Miami Design Preservation League, Starbucks gifts and Fotomission hats and t-shirts. All the contestants' images will be exhibited permanently on Fotomission's page below.
We thank all the participants, volunteers and our generous sponsors for making this a great event as always!
We hope to see you for the next fun and challenging photomarathon.
